Community Improvement Plan - Business Grants and Loans

Central Manitoulin offers a Community Improvement Plan and it has been approved in the budget for 2024.

About the CIP

Grants and loans have been developed and approved by Council to respond to local business property investment needs.

Applicants are encouraged to read the Community Improvement Plan Detailed Program Documentation.

This Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is intended to promote and sustain quality of life and long-term economic growth in the Municipality of Central Manitoulin.  The Plan represents part of the Municipality’s broader economic development and diversification planning as well as effective land use and use of existing community infrastructure. Existing Municipal policy as well as Provincial policy is in full support of these goals.

A Community Improvement Plan (CIP) is a tool available to Municipalities under the Planning Act to help facilitate revitalization and redevelopment. Grant, loan and other programs have been developed and approved by Council to respond to local business property investment needs, such as:

  • Program 1: Façade, Landscape and Signage Improvement
  • Program 2: Building Restoration, Renovation and Improvement
  • Program 3: Planning and Related Fees
