  • Fire Season April 1st to October 31st Burn Permits

    By law, you need a fire permit to burn wood, brush, leaves and grass outside during the fire season (April 1 – October 31) Daytime burning is prohibited. Burn permits are $5.00 and can be obtained at the Municipal Office at 6020 Highway 542, Mindemoya, ON.

    Everything you need to know about having a fire is in By-Law 2020-14. The by-law provides for the regulation of open-air burning and precautions to be taken while burning.

  • Central Manitoulin Fire Ban Fully Lifted October 10, 2023

    With the recent prolonged heavy rain, a decision has been made to fully lift the Municipality of Central Manitoulin Fire Ban as of October 10, 2023. Burn permits will now be issued at the Municipal Office. The full lifting of the fire ban is in addition to the ban on campfires only being lifted on August 18th, 2023.

  • Firework Displays
    Please note that personal firework displays are not permitted due to the municipal fire ban and in conjunction with the MNR fire restrictions.
  • Special Air Quality Statement

    Residents and visitors should be advised that there is an ongoing air quality warning because of the forest fires around the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations.
