    "Due to a shortage of available doctors, Manitoulin Health Centre will only be operating one of its two Emergency Departments for several days in October.

    Notice of pesticide spraying to the selectively kill Invasive Phragmites; to prevent habitat from being destroyed by this aggressive foreign grass. Spraying will commence September 5, 2023 at 3 locations.

  • Planning Ahead for an Emergency Evacuation

    The Municipality of Central Manitoulin wants to be as prepared as possible with the recent events in Okanagan region, Maui Hawaii and other communities suffering devastating forest/wildland fires. As a community and families, let’s test our readiness. Evacuation can happen in two steps. 

  • Notice of Herbicide Use on the Invasive Plant Species Phragmites

    Edit - Due to local weather conditions, this has been rescheduled to commence after Labour Day.** Selective spraying will commence tomorrow, August 23rd, 2023, on three small sections of ditch within the Municipality of Central Manitoulin.

    Please note that personal firework displays are not permitted due to the municipal fire ban and in conjunction with the MNR fire restrictions.
  • Special Air Quality Statement

    Residents and visitors should be advised that there is an ongoing air quality warning because of the forest fires around the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations. 

  • Municipal Office Complex Cooling Station Open

    The Municipality of Central Manitoulin has our cooling stations open. With this unseasonably warm weather please come and cool down at 6020 Highway 542 in our foyer 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Please stay hydrated and rest where and when it is needed.
