Join us for Seniors Programming in Central Manitoulin!

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin offers a variety of programs for adults 55+ through our moblie Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC). Programs include exercise classes, chair yoga, knowledge sharing sessions, senior drop-in activities, and other opportunities designed to keep adults active, connected, and engaged.

Programs are funded and delivered through the Municipality’s Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) and are hosted at various municipal facilities throughout the community, making it easy for residents to participate close to home.

Whether you’re looking to stay active, learn something new, or connect with others, there’s something for everyone.

Our Knowledge Sharing Sessions provide adults 55+ with the opportunity to learn new skills, connect with others, and discover a wide variety of topics led by local experts and talented community members.

Sessions are typically offered three times each month: two evening sessions from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm and one afternoon session from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. From cooking demonstrations and hands-on crafting workshops to educational presentations, there’s always something new to experience.

Thanks to funding through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC), there is no cost to participate, but registration is required, as spaces are limited.

Our Senior Drop-In program offers adults 55+ a welcoming place to socialize, enjoy a coffee, and spend time with friends in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Held once a month on Thursday afternoons from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at one of our municipal facilities, each drop-in features casual conversation and a variety of activities, including floor curling, cornhole, board games, cards, and more.

There is no cost to participate, as the program is funded through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC) and supported by the Friends of the Mindemoya Old School.

Registration is not required—simply drop in and join the fun!

Our Seniors Exercise Class offers adults 55+ a fun and welcoming way to stay active while improving strength, balance, flexibility, and overall well-being.

Classes are held Mondays at the Mindemoya Hall and Fridays at the Providence Bay Hall, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Led by our enthusiastic instructor, Ginger, each session features low-impact movements and resistance band exercises suitable for a variety of fitness levels.

There is no cost to participate, as the program is funded through the Seniors Active Living Centre (SALC), but registration is required.

Our Chair Yoga & Gentle Yoga classes offer adults 55+ a relaxing way to improve flexibility, balance, mobility, and overall wellness in a calm and supportive environment.

Classes are held every Tuesday at the Mindemoya Hall, led by our experienced instructor, Brenda. Chair Yoga runs from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm and features seated and chair-supported movements, making it an excellent option for those looking to improve strength, flexibility, posture, and balance with minimal impact. Gentle Yoga follows from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm and is a slower-paced, mat-based class that focuses on gentle stretching, breathing techniques, relaxation, and mindful movement. Participants attending Gentle Yoga are asked to bring their own yoga mat.
