Significant Weather Event Declared and Municipal Office Closure on March 16th, 2026
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin is advising residents that an Inclement Weather Advisory remains in effect as of March 15, 2026, due to hazardous winter conditions including snow and ice. As a result, the Central Manitoulin Municipal Office will be closed on Monday, March 16, 2026.
These conditions may result in slippery and unsafe roads and sidewalks, and municipal crews may not be able to maintain all areas to regular service levels.
Residents are encouraged to use caution when travelling within the municipality and to avoid unnecessary travel if possible.
Municipal staff will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates on the municipal website and social media as conditions change.
Residents and visitors should be advised that there is an ongoing air quality warning because of the forest fires around the Provinces of Ontario and Quebec. Wildfire smoke can be harmful to everyone’s health even at low concentrations.
A great group of people came out for the Guided Hike at Wagg’s Woods Trails this morning in Mindemoya, ON. The group of about 25 came out for a tour of the newest addition, the Alvar Trail.
