  • GFL Garbage Pickup Rescheduled

    Due to the upcoming Canada Day holiday, GFL has rescheduled the July 1st garbage and recycling collection to Monday, June 29, 2026.

  • Hydrant Flushing & Valve Exercising

    The Municipality of Central Manitoulin would like to advise residents of Mindemoya that the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) will be conducting annual spring main valve exercising and hydrant flushing from June 4th to June 6th, 2026.

    During this time, residents may experience:

    • Temporary low water pressure
    • Cloudy or discoloured water

    This is a routine and necessary process to maintain the safety and quality of our drinking water system. The water is safe for consumption. If cloudy or discoloured water is noticed, residents are asked to run their taps for a few minutes until the water clears.

    We appreciate your patience and understanding as this important maintenance is completed.

  • Transfer Station Payment Changes Effective July 1, 2026

    The Municipality of Central Manitoulin would like to advise residents of an upcoming change to transfer station operations.

    Effective July 1, 2026, Municipal Transfer Stations will no longer accept payments onsite.

    Residents will be required to purchase all:

    • Garbage Bag Tags
    • Tipping Cards

    All garbage bag tags and tipping cards must be purchased in advance through the Municipal Office prior to attending any Municipal Transfer Station site.

    This change is being implemented to streamline operations and improve efficiency at transfer station locations.

    Residents are encouraged to plan ahead and ensure they have the required tags or tipping cards before visiting a transfer station.

  • Reduced Load Restrictions Lifted

    Please be advised that Reduced Load Restrictions for the Municipality of Central Manitoulin have been lifted effective Tuesday, May 19th, 2026

  • Free Brush Drop Off at Providence Bay Transfer Station
    To support fire prevention and spring clean up, the Municipality of Central Manitoulin is pleased to offer residents waived tipping fees on clean brush brought to the Providence Bay Transfer Station during operating hours on the following dates:
    • May 21st, 23rd, and 24th, 2026
    • May 28th, 30th, and 31st, 2026
    Loads must be sorted and may contain clean brush only. Other transfer station fees and rules still apply.
  • Transfer Station Summer Hours in Effect
    Please be advised that the Providence Bay and Big Lake Transfer Stations will begin summer hours effective Saturday, May 23, 2026.
    The Providence Bay Transfer Station will be open:
    • Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays
    • 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm
    The Big Lake Transfer Station will be open:
    • Saturdays and Sundays
    • 9:00 am to 1:00 pm
    These summer hours will remain in effect from the May long weekend through to the September long weekend.
  • Dock Installation and Repair Update

    Please be advised that the finger docks located at the Government Dock in Mindemoya will be installed once water levels allow for safe installations.

    The Lake Kagawong boat launch dock, located on Perivale Road West, is currently undergoing repairs due to seasonal weather damage and will be installed once repairs are complete.

    Staff are monitoring water levels and continuing dock repairs, and an update will be provided once available.

  • Municipal Office Phone and Internet Interruptions for May 6th and 7th, 2026

    Due to a scheduled system upgrade, the Central Manitoulin Municipal Office will experience intermittent telephone and internet service on May 6th and 7th, 2026.

    This may affect some municipal services and response times during this period.

    We appreciate your patience and understanding as we complete these improvements.

  • State of Emergency Lifted as of May 5th, 2026
    The Municipality of Central Manitoulin would like to inform residents and businesses that the State of Emergency has been officially lifted as of May 5th, 2026, at 2:30 pm.
    This marks an important step forward as conditions stabilize across the community. Municipal services and operations will continue returning to normal, with some monitoring and recovery work still ongoing in certain areas.
    We recognize the effort it took from all corners of the community to get to this point and thank everyone for their cooperation along the way.
