State of Emergency Update as of April 23rd, 2026
Over the past couple of weeks, our community has faced some incredibly challenging conditions. Through it all, residents, businesses, and volunteers came together in a way that truly reflects the strength and resilience of Central Manitoulin. The support, cooperation, and care shown for one another has not gone unnoticed.
At this time:
- All municipal roadways are open. However, some areas will continue to be monitored regularly by our Roads Department to ensure conditions remain safe.
- The Ministry of Natural Resources will continue to monitor the Big Lake Dam and will advise the Municipality if any further operation of the Dam is required.
- Municipal programming and facility rentals will resume as of Saturday, April 25th, 2026.
- The Drinking Water Advisory has been lifted for the Town of Mindemoya as of Wednesday, April 22nd, 2026.
With that being said, the State of Emergency remains in effect.
While conditions may seem to have improved, we ask all residents and businesses to remain prepared should circumstances change.
We are incredibly proud of how our community has responded - working together, supporting one another, and rising to meet these challenges head-on. Thank you to everyone who played a role in helping keep our community safe.
