Significant Weather Event

NOTICE

March 11, 2026 – 3:30 p.m.

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin is advising residents that a Significant Weather Event has been declared, effective immediately.

Current weather conditions, including freezing rain and ice buildup, have created unsafe conditions on roads and sidewalks. At this time, municipal crews are unable to keep these areas at the usual level of service.

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to proceed with caution when travelling within the municipality. Residents are encouraged to postpone non-essential travel until conditions improve.

Municipal staff will continue to monitor the situation and respond as conditions allow. Notices will be posted on the municipal website and social media when the Significant Weather Event has been lifted and regular maintenance standards resume.

 

GFL Garbage Pickup Cancellation

Due to the current weather conditions, GFL has decided to pull their trucks off the road and garbage collection will not take place today.  They will complete a double garbage pickup next week to make up for the missed collection. 

Recycling will remain on the regular schedule with fibre pickup next week as planned.
