  • Lake Mindemoya Hazard No Longer an Issue for Boater Navigation - Work Continues

    Please be advised the floating municipal water intake pipe hazard in the vicinity of the bay in front of  Ketchankookem Trail and Old Highway 551 on Lake Mindemoya at approximately 45.750610 Latitude , -82.166376 Longitude is no longer a hazard to boating traffic. 

    Please note the repair crew is still in the area securing the weights to the intake pipe. 

     

  • Public Notice: Providence Bay Beach Maintenance Week of September 30th 2024

    The Municipality of Central Manitoulin has been issued a Permit Under Clause 17(2)(c) of the Endangered Species Act, 2007 by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry. This is specific to the Providence Bay beach and boardwalk maintenance. The work is part of ongoing restoration of the beach that assists the natural ecosystem.  These actions are expected to improve the area for the enjoyment of visitors and enhance the protected habitat, the dune, for species at risk.

  • UPDATED: Lake Mindemoya Hazard

    Update 2024-09-19: The floating intake pipe is  not longer a hazard to boating traffic but work continues on securing the pipe to the lake bottom at the time of this update.

     

  • Extreme Heat: Municipal Cooling Station Opened July 31st Until Further Notice

    Due to the current heat wave the Municipality is opening its cooling station located at 6020 Highway 542 in Mindemoya, ON. The location is open from 8:30am - 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

    The station will open July 31st, 2024 until further notice. 

  • EXTREME HEAT WARNING for Central Manitoulin

    Please be advised there are predicted daytime highs of 42° Celsius with humidex from June 17 to June 19, 2024 for Central Manitoulin. 

    The municipal building located at 6020 Highway 542, Mindemoya, ON will be acting as our cooling station throughout this heat wave during normal office hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
