Successful 2023 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

Thank you to our volunteers that helped out at yet another successful Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event. This is the 20th year the event has been running. This year we had over 200 vehicles coming through removing a lot of hazardous material from our municipality and surrounding townships.
The Household Hazardous Waste Collection event runs annually one day a year in the summer time. This years event was held on Saturday July 22, 2023 at 7 Lakeshore Road in Mindemoya, ON. The afternoon event is an island wide municipal event with disposal costs jointly paid for by the Municipality of Central Manitoulin, Townships of Assiginack, Billings, Burpee & Mills, Gordon/Barrie Island, Tehkummah and the Town of Gore Bay. A morning event is also held at the NEMI landfill for NEMI residents only.
