Take an Internet Speed Test

Friday, July 24, 2020

One very easy thing that residents and businesses can do to assist in quantifying internet speeds is to take a computer or device internet speed test online at https://performance.cira.ca/. Please feel free to forward this link to your peers, friends and family members.

The above speed test link is from Connected North and is in conjunction with the Canadian Internet Registration Authority (CIRA). The results are sent to our local Information Communication Technology Development organization (ICTN’s) called Blue Sky Net that covers North, Bay Sudbury and Manitoulin Island areas. They are funded by the Government of Canada, through FedNor to come up with solutions for rural internet access. The data is also sent directly to Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) also known as Industry Canada. The more data they have the better they can determine the needs of rural Ontario.
