Regarding Providence Bay Beach and Boardwalk Maintenance
The Municipality of Central Manitoulin will begin beach and boardwalk maintenance in Providence Bay during the week of May 23, 2017.
The municipality is permitted to do maintenance activities and will do specific activities over the next several years.
The activities to be undertaken this year will be:
- removal of some shrubs, including roots, along the water’s edge on the East side of the Mindemoya River for the length of the boardwalk,
- clearing a path from the boardwalk staircases to the water, and
- removal of some vegetation on the East side of the Mindemoya River.
The work area will be staked and flagged. For your safety, please do not enter the site while the work is being done.
These actions are expected to enhance the area closest to the Mindemoya River for enjoyment by visitors. At the same time, it is intended to enhance the habitat for species at risk.
The permit issued to the Municipality of Central Manitoulin by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry allows the municipality to conduct specific activities and is not for action by the general public.
