Please be Advised: M’Chigeeng Has Restricted Travel Through its Community

Tuesday, April 28, 2020
Central Manitoulin is advising residents that they may have to detour around the M'Chigeeng First Nation. Effective Saturday, April 25 at 12 noon, M’Chigeeng First Nation moved into a Non-Essential Travel Ban. This means that travel will be restricted to and from the community.

There are four checkponts on the outlying edges of the M'Chigeeng community. Two checkpoints on Hwy 540 on the East and West sides, one checkpoint on the south side on Hwy 551 that borders the Municipality of Central Manitoulin and one checkpoint on a backroad at the Southwest corner of M'Chigeeng on Monument Road area also on the border of the Municipality of Central Manitoulin.

M'Chigeeng First Nation Council has approved essential travel and non-essential travel lists to travel through that community.  Please see below Manitoulin Expositor newspaper article for a full list.
