Lake Manitou Area Association Information Night August 17th

The Lake Manitou Area Association is hosting an Information Night for the public on Wednesday August 17 at 7:00pm at the Sandfield Schoolhouse. Stop by to learn about long-term ecosystem monitoring, water testing and the placement of buoys. Visit Lake Manitou online for more information. 

The LMAA is a non-profit voluntary organization dedicated to preserving the cultural heritage and environmental integrity of the waters of Lake Manitou, its feeder streams, and outgoing rivers and partner lakes.
Lake Manitou is the largest lake of the 108 lakes on Manitoulin Island with a surface area of approximately 104 sq. km or 40.5 sq. miles.  It also can lay claim to being the largest lake on a freshwater island in the world. Manitoulin Island is located in Northern Ontario, Canada at the northern edge of Lake Huron.

A Little About Central

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin is located in the centre of Manitoulin Island with an abundance of lakes, rivers, and beaches. The Municipality includes the villages and hamlets of Mindemoya, Providence Bay, Spring Bay, Sandfield and Big Lake. We offer diverse attractions and unique landmarks such as our sandy beach in Providence Bay or access to Lake Manitou, the largest lake on the island. We invite you to visit our community in the "heart" of Manitoulin Island.
