Honouring OPP PC Marc Hovingh, One Year Later

Wednesday, November 17, 2021
This Friday, November 19th, 2021 marks one year since our small Island community lost one if its finest citizens in the line of duty. Ontario Provincial Police Provincial Constable Marc Hovingh was known for being a family man, his generosity and caring nature while serving his church and community. We as a community are grateful and forever indebted to Marc and his family for his service.

Please join us in remembering Marc and paying respect to his family, friends and law enforcement colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice for our community. There are some words spoken by Marc’s wife, Leanne Hovingh that we should reflect upon and strive to fully comprehend as a community.

“Whatever it is that anger and outrage are helping you accomplish, love will do a better job.”

Manitoulin Island’s coming together, outpouring of grief and tributes to Marc Hovingh showed that this tragic incident cannot and will not define us, that we are stronger together with love as a community.
