Able Enterprises - Process and Document Serving has donated $500.00 to a newly formed user group

A new user group has been formed from several major user groups with the aim of putting an organized and proactive effort into ongoing maintenance of the Mindemoya ball fields in the Municipality of Central Manitoulin. Greg Lockeyer spear headed the formation of the committee with the intent to bring the fields back up to standard for the 2022 season after two seasons of minimal use because of COVID-19 restrictions and to address ongoing future costs associated with running the fields. A volunteer work day is being planned for the near future to till up the infields where the grass has significantly encroached and established as well as spreading a load of top soil provided by the Municipality in some low spots in and around the fields. The first meeting was attended by Greg Lockeyer (Pearson Cup/Kids Ball Tournament), Karlene Scott (Pearson Cup), Sandy Graham (Special Olympics), Reid Taylor (Youth Baseball), Dale Scott (Municipal/Lions Club), Marcus Mohr (Municipal/Lions Club).

The current user groups are donating up to $100 each in funds are the Pearson Cup Committee, Central Manitoulin Lions Club, Youth Spring Baseball, Kids Ball Tournament and Special Olympics with other groups expected to join once the newly formed group has successfully recruited representation from them. Able Enterprises - Document and Process Serving (705-377-6212) operated by Frank and Janice Abbott of Mindemoya have also donated $500 towards the proposed work.  Although the committee is not a Municipal Committee, the Municipality will also have representation through the user group, with Property Committee Chair and Councillor Dale Scott with Community Development and Outreach Coordinator Marcus Mohr, offering a small 2021 contribution for the fields COVID-19 related work through Economic Development Special Projects.  A trust account has been set up at the Municipality and anyone wanting to donate to the project can contact Marcus at centralecdev@amtelecom.net or 705-377-5726.  Volunteers can also contact this information or one of the user group members!

The ball fields in Mindemoya get a lot of use as noted in the below chart done up by Greg Lockeyer.
