Discovery Centre Opening July 23rd, 2021

We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Providence Bay Discovery Centre again! With the Provincial government going into step 3 of the Roadmap to Reopen the Discovery Centre, considered a Museum will be able to open its doors.  The first weekend it will be open Friday July 23rd, Saturday 24th, Sunday 25th from 9-6. The rest of the summer the centre will be open Thursdays to Mondays 9-6 based on staff availability.  Unfortunately, there will be no animals in the Discovery Centre this year. The Discovery Centre will use the outdoor entrance, the hallway entrance will be locked for the season for COVID-19 mitigation reasons. 

A Little About Central

The Municipality of Central Manitoulin is located in the centre of Manitoulin Island with an abundance of lakes, rivers, and beaches. The Municipality includes the villages and hamlets of Mindemoya, Providence Bay, Spring Bay, Sandfield and Big Lake. We offer diverse attractions and unique landmarks such as our sandy beach in Providence Bay or access to Lake Manitou, the largest lake on the island. We invite you to visit our community in the "heart" of Manitoulin Island.
