Discovery Centre Officially Closed for the Season and Providence Bay Canada Day Fireworks Postponed.

Wednesday, June 24, 2020

The Discovery Centre Board and the Municipality of Central Manitoulin have officially decided that in the interest of public safety and the safety of volunteers, staff and primarily seasonal student staff that we will not be opening the Discovery Centre for the 2020 season due to COVID-19 public health situation. The sector specific guidelines associated with opening such a facility are not feasible at this time and the Municipality does not have the resources to properly operate the Discovery Centre in accordance with those guidelines.

The Providence Bay Canada Day Fireworks have been postponed to an undetermined date. In consultation with Public Health we have decided that advertising and promoting a mass gathering such as fireworks does not align with the Provincial Guidelines on gatherings and social distancing at this time.

We thank all of our visitors and residents for your continued support and understanding.
