Central Manitoulin Community Helpline Groceries & Errands New Number

Sunday, April 5, 2020

The Municipality's "Central Manitoulin Community Helpline" number for groceries and errands is currently 1-249-878-1659.

The 888 number was implemented to allow returning travelers to call from around the world, allow calling outside of Municipal office hours and to allow call forwarding to different volunteers on duty to answer the helpline.
The toll free 888 number for groceries and errands for residents in self-isolation was implemented through a service provider in Mississauga but was flagged by the carrier out of New York for "spam" which means that the # itself was probably used by scammers in a process called "spoofing" in other parts of the world and was not used as spam here locally. We are working with the provider to fix the situation but it could take several days, which is also hampered by the prevalence of the virus in New York. We apologize for the inconvenience.
