Pioneer Museum/Welcome Centre, Swimming Programs and Day Camps
The Pioneer Museum/Welcome Centre, swim programs and summer fun day camp programs will not be opening this summer due to the fact that each one has its own set of additional opening measures and are primarily run by students. There is an inherent liability/responsibility in opening a facility or activity during the COVID-19 pandemic and the Municipality does not have the resources to implement those additional daily measures and supervise those seasonal resources.
Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre (Interpretive Centre) in Providence Bay will likely not open this summer for the same reasons as above, however a final decision will be made on Monday June 22nd, 2020.
Canada Day, July 1st Fireworks
We have consulted with Public Health and the fireworks in Providence Bay will be postponed until later in the year, potentially for Labour Day or even Thanksgiving weekend. Planning and advertising a mass gathering such as fireworks, even though it is outside, is not permitted at this time.
Providence Bay Boardwalk
After some discussion with Public Health we have decided that the boardwalk in Providence Bay will be opened officially, Wednesday June 17th, 2020. Playgrounds will remain closed under Provincial regulations. The beaches, boat launches, docks and parks have already been opened. As always follow Provincial orders and guidelines in gatherings and social distancing.
