1. Segregation of recyclables is MANDATORY. (see "Recyclable Items")
2. Household and commercial garbage MUST be placed in clear or translucent garbage bags. Smaller opaque bags i.e. 'Kitchen Catchers' may be placed within the larger clear bag. Maximum weight = 18 kilograms or 40 lbs. Clear bags may NOT contain recyclable items - Recyclable items will not be allowed in the general waste pile at our dumps!
3. Weekly roadside pickup of household and commercial garbage will be on Wednesdays. Recyclable pickup will occur on the same day every other week. Private lanes will not be travelled.
4. Containerized commercial pickup for the entire township will occur on Wednesday. For info call MWRC at 1-800-430-7778.
5. Dump hours are as follows
Victoria Day weekend To Labour Day weekend
Big Lake: Saturday and Sunday 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Providence Bay: Saturday and Sunday 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Remainder of Year
Big Lake: Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Providence Bay: Saturday 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

6. Segregation of the following materials is MANDATORY at the Providence Bay Dump:
- recyclables
- construction materials i.e. wood and drywall
- metals i.e. white goods & refrigerators
- clean fill i.e. soil, boulders & concrete
- shingles, tar based products, & ashphalt
- brush
- yard waste i.e. leaves and grass clippings
- tires
7. The following materials will NOT be accepted at the Big Lake Dump:
- construction materials i.e. wood and drywall
- clean fill i.e. soil, boulders & concrete
- shingles, tar based products, & ashphalt
- brush
- yard waste i.e. leaves and grass clippings
- freon based white goods i.e. refrigerators & freezers
- bulky items i.e. couches & bedframes
8. IMPORTANT: If you bring your garbage to either dump not separated it will be refused
9. Building contractors may be allowed access to the Providence Bay Dump during weekdays for a $100 per year fee plus tipping charges. Contact the Municipal office at 377-5726 for more details.
10. New tipping fees will apply for certain materials and bulk loads.

PLACE BESIDE BLUE BOX
Newspaper, Magazines, Household Fine Paper, Catalogues and Telephone Books
- Includes advertising inserts & glossy flyers
- White, brown or coloured writing and mailed papers
- Photocopy paper & envelopes
- NO carbon or tissue
- Keep newspaper separate from cardboard
Bag and place beside your Blue Box
Corrugated Cardboard
- Layered cardboard boxes with a ripple between the layers
- Keep newspaper separated from cardboard
Flatten & Bundle no larger than 30"x30"x8"
Boxboard
- Cereal, detergent, shoe boxes, etc. Remove liners, flatten and stuff into a boxboard box
- Cardboard and boxboard can be placed together
Place beside your Blue Box
PLACE INSIDE BLUE BOX
Glass Bottles and Jars Only
- Clear and coloured only food and beverage containers
Place loose in Blue Box
Metal Food and Beverage Containers
- Steel & aluminum food and beverage can
- Aluminum tray and foil
- Steel lids or jar lids can be place with metal food products
Rinse and remove lids or push into cans place loose in your Blue Box
Plastic Bottles and Jars
- Containers marked with a #1 or #2 on the side or bottom
- Plastic pop bottles, water bottles, soap, anti-freeze, laundry detergent or javex bottles
- Plastic lids should be put into garbage
Place loose in your Blue Box
Reminder
Keep materials separated and put out your Blue Box only when it is full
Note:
If so desired you can separate your products in your Blue Box with Newspaper or Magazines
